An effective engineering strategy is not just about technology choices or is not what you are trying to do, but processes, organisation design, and cultural elements.
As a leader of the organisation, you must understand the problem the business is trying to solve, and the pain points, and develop a coherent approach to overcoming them. But that’s not it, you also need to make sure people are following it. And while there are plenty of examples of the importance of having a vision and strategy in place, there are few on how to put together a compelling strategy. This talk will give you an understanding of what makes a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ strategy, how to craft one, how to articulate and communicate it, and how to adapt it as times change.
